Introducing... Bobbie and Bernie
Bobbie and Bernie are Broken Rose's newest editions, and will be bringing the Bobbie and Bernie Show to the Broken Rose YouTube channel very soon. Bobbie is the perfect gentleman. Bernie tends to flash her pants when she dances. In fact, I think she's designed that way...

A Celtic Californian and her Broken Rose
Hi there Rockstars,
We have a new networking site for you. Artistic Director, Gemma Connell has put together information on all of her projects, including Broken Rose performing arts, on a new social networking site called "A Celtic Californian and her Broken Rose", which can be found at http://celticcalifornian-brokenrose.webs.com
On this site, you are able to interact with the material, rather than just read news updates. You can sign the guestbook, and give us your thoughts on Broken Rose or Celtic Californian. You can also be a part of the "Your Story" series without the need for a video camera! We've provided a wiki which allows you to write an article about your organisation and have it published on that social network. We will then promote these articles through our other social media networks, as we do with the videos.
ADD YOUR ARTICLES TO THE "YOUR STORY ARTICLES" SECTION OF THE "YOUR STORY SERIES" PAGE (Go to the social network, click on "Your Story" series, then click on the Wiki Navigation drop down menu and go to "Your Story" Articles).
Always looking to give you guys opportunities :)
You can also upload your own fan photos of Broken Rose and take part in the many forums that are now live on the site, so get over there!
Remember, http://celticcalifornian-brokenrose.webs.com

Tongue-in-Cheek Dance Parade Footage now live!
Footage from the Tongue-in-Cheek Eccentrics dance parade which took place in June 2009, as part of Warwick Student Arts Festival, at Warwick University, is now live on our YouTube channel.
The parade moved between two different stages and involved the swapping of music and costumes between dance styles. This footage is that which was choreographed by Gemma Connell, now the artistic Director of Broken Rose, who used this project as inspiration for her performing arts company.
The parade took just over a year to organise, and experienced many technical difficulties along the way, but it generated the second largest audience of the entire week-long festival, pretty impressive for 11 o'clock in the morning! As it was such a huge success, Gemma used the parade as a prototype for what would eventually become Broken Rose.
For more Broken Rose and Tongue-in Cheek footage, check out the Broken Rose channell - www.youtube.com/user/brokenrosearts
Huge thanks go to Samilia E for filming and editing this for us.

Coming Up - August Broken Rose Video Blog
Hey Everyone,
I have a lot of projects which are in their baby planning stages going on at the minute. Sometime in August I'll post a video blog about all my shennanigans, but just to give you a taster, here's what I'll be getting up to:
July-Aug - Working at the 24:7 Theatre Festival in Manchester - check out www.247theatrefestival.co.uk
Aug 5th - Working with artist Naomi Kendrick on a music drawing project in the North West. For more information on that, and if you're a dancer who wants to be involved in the project, check out Naomi's website at http://deadrabbit-ablog.blogspot.com/
Hopefully doing another full length music video with Francesca Hughes of Original Fuse Designs at some point... www.originalfuse.eu
The Vlog will include some sneaky snippets of some new routines, so stick around for that!
I'll let you guys know if there are any other major developments.

The Making of the Video
It was a wet Sunday morning when myself and Francesca Hughes of Original Fuse Designs met at Cafe Nero in Wilmslow, Cheshire, to conduct the interview section of our new promotional video for Broken Rose.
After moving from one seating area to another, dodging some rather noisy customers, Fran set up her camera, along with it's cute mini tripod (all very professional, you understand ! ) and began to film me talking about my favourite subject: Broken Rose. The video describes the company and its influences, and also its aims for the future. Well, it did... once I'd managed to get my words untangled, that is!
The next section was filmed a week later, on a more sunny Saturday morning. Fran and I met at 8:30am at the Carrs in Wilmslow in order to beat the rush of kids that was bound to follow us on such a nice day. We had found the perfect location: a graffiti covered skate park.
The filming took place in various different locations around the skate park; infront of graffiti panels, ontop of the halfpipe and ontop of the funbox. Stood ontop of the half pipe whilst Fran set up her camera with her (slightly bigger ! ) tripod, I noticed a spot of graffiti that simply said "I hope you fall" ... not something you want to read when you're about to perform a street dance up there!
Despite a few interfering dogs and the very un-showbiz job of moving dirty rubbish out of the way of the shot, the shoot went really well, and I cannot wait for you guys to see the finished product!
The routine which is featured in this video is to AFI's "Prelude 12/21" and the full Broken Rose video of this dance (to be filmed in a different location) will also be live very soon.
Thanks for tuning in guys!

Tattoo clad ballerinas dancing to heavy metal… now there’s a dream…
It's time to throw that right "look" out of the window. People should be apprieciated for their talents and not because their talent mixes with the accepted aesthetic. Broken Rose aims to mix it up a bit. So we will look a little 'alternative' if it pleases us to do so and we will dance to any genre of music that takes the mood.
